Frequently Asked Questions

What is QuantaSutra?

QuantaSutra unifies your data automatically so it’s ready for rapid analysis. Best of all, it intelligently responds to changes in your data without IT intervention.  We even transfer your data privately so it stays secure and under control.

Who is QuantaSutra for?

QuantaSutra is for organizations already successful with BI needing to rapidly analyze different data sources. Many organizations utilize manual ETL based transfers, which are cumbersome, don’t scale, and are prone to failure at the worst times. Often times there is a lack of IT resources to unify different data sources. We provide a rapid solution.

What kind of data can QuantaSutra handle?

Nearly any kind of modern data including structured, unstructured, cloud and on premise data that changes rapidly and needs to be analyzed.

What the advantage of QuantaSutra?

We automatically consolidate multiple data sources into one destination data warehouse. Having fresh raw data analytical capabilities from multiple data sources transforms reporting response times from months to seconds.

How does QuantaSutra work?

An easy to use management cloud lets you define your requirements and then remotely controls a private data stream that runs inside your firewall, data center or private cloud container.

Is QuantaSutra fast?

Very. The shared nothing actor based architecture behind QuantaSutra can handle millions of operations per second on a single modern server. The technology can stream the data much faster than it comes in.

What input data sources does it support?

QuantaSutra supports cloud services, REST apis, flat files, relational data sources, JSON data out of the box.  Additionally the open architecture lets you easily connect to any custom data.

What data warehouses or destinations does it support?

Quandl financial data, CSV flat files, Amazon Redshift and Microsoft SQL Server DW with more destinations planned.

How is QuantaSutra different than existing data streaming solutions?

QuantaSutra is a hybrid local-cloud solution which is cloud managed and executes in your private data center for additional control and security. It has an open architecture that lets you create your own data connectors with a simple API. Other solutions are designed for organizations primarily doing everything in the cloud.

Is QuantaSutra secure?

Yes, very.  Our hybrid local-cloud architecture lets you run our data streaming engine inside your private data center, behind your firewall. Our management cloud only sees metadata, statistics and contextual information. Your actual data never leaves your controlled environment.

Do I have to stream all my data?

While by default we just stream everything, our management interface gives you the ability to disable, encrypt, or transform data down to the field level.

What’s a modern data warehouse?

While many data warehousing technologies exist, they are rigid, cumbersome and immensely time intensive to create and maintain.  Modern in-memory columnar data warehouses give you very high performance at very little cost while requiring almost no maintenance or administration. The most popular are Amazon Redshift and Microsoft SQL Server DW(with in-memory enabled).

How does QuantaSutra compare to SSIS or Talend?

Traditional ETL solutions make the assumption of scarcity and require significant time investment to specifically define every single object that needs processing. They are optimized for batch processing instead of real time streaming.  They are also static in that whenever the data source changes the scripts need to be manually updated.  QuantaSutra assumes abundant data storage is abundantly available, but people are not.  It “just works” by streaming everything without requiring any configuration.  When the data structures change, it just handles it and logs the results without requiring any human intervention to continue streaming data near real time.
